The Engineering and Design Department at General Packaging Corporation is dedicated to delivering innovative and customized packaging solutions. Our expert team utilizes advanced CAD software and cutting-edge prototyping to bring your ideas to life with precision and efficiency. We work closely with clients to understand their unique requirements, ensuring seamless integration of design and functionality. Whether creating solutions for fragile electronics, perishable goods, or heavy machinery, our department is committed to providing optimal protection and exceptional presentation.

Design work is performed on a number of software platforms and typically includes 2D and 3D drawings as well as load capacity, stacking / strength analysis, palletization and truck cube analysis.

Combined with ArtiosCAD, this computer design-driven cutting table is excellent for prototypes & low-volume requirements.

General Packaging is one of only 3 ISTA-certified labs in north Texas.
Product-Based Design
Form follows function. In our business, we custom-design packaging solutions based on each customer’s unique product. As such, we produce literally hundreds of different packaging products any given month. We carry very few standard, “off-the-shelf” products…preferring to manufacture custom packaging, using product-based design as a starting point. We believe this results in a superior level of protection and effectiveness.

Precision Samples
Why buy packaging products sight unseen? Let us help you get a comfort factor with the box, pallet, cushioning, or any other packaging solution by providing a sample – free of charge. We often utilize precision samples for testing and certification purposes. Prototypes can be produced on a Kongsberg CAD table or a CNC router for precise cutting and drilling. For other custom wood products, we will hand-assemble a sample for review and approval.
Testing
Vibration Testing
Vibration testing is used to evaluate in-transit packaging performance. Vibration testing is performed on a rotary-motion mechanical vibration table with a 1 in. fixed displacement.
Shock Testing
Testing for drops and external impacts; Drop tester for heights between 18”-36” compliant with ISTA 1A testing standards.
Material Testing
Board test analysis for corrugated products to weight specific liners and mediums; verification of paper content.
