Our Options for MIL-SPEC Crates

At General Packaging Corporation, we offer a wide range of options for MIL-SPEC crates. Each of them is designed to handle the demands of military logistics. Some of them are:

  • Large military crates: These are perfect for transporting heavy-duty or oversized equipment.
  • Ammunition storage crates: These provide secure and durable protection of specialized materials.
  • Explosive transport crates: These are designed for protecting and transporting sensitive components.

Certified to Meet Military Standards

Our military packaging solutions are created to align with MIL-SPEC requirements, ensuring safety and reliability in every shipment. At General Packaging Corporation, we’re proud to hold certifications such as ISPM 15 for international shipping of wood products.

These certifications prove that our processes consistently meet military and global packaging standards and reflect our commitment to excellence. We’re proud to say that we have a very capable engineering and technical staff and maintain an ISTA-certified testing lab for these purposes.

We also have experience meeting different specs relevant to military needs, such as:

  • PPP-B-1672E: This specification is for reusable fiberboard and protection components, called Fast Packs, made to transport and store electronics.
  • MIL-B-2427: This military specification is for nailed wood boxes meant to pack ammunition and explosives.
  • ASTM-D-6251: This standard supports the secure transport of military equipment, materials and supplies in wood-cleated packaging.

FAQs About Military Crates

The difference between Level A and Level B military packaging is the type of protection it provides. Level A is for prolonged storage or unpredictable overseas shipping, while Level B is for milder, more controlled domestic shipping. The level of packaging you need depends on your contract and shipping conditions. Your order or contract should specify the required packaging level.

Level A packaging offers the highest level of protection for the most severe conditions, such as extreme climates, extended storage and overseas deployment. It often involves overseas wood boxes, hermetically sealed containers or reusable metal or plastic containers. Its vapor-proof and waterproof barriers, corrosion inhibitors and cushioning help prevent damage in the most extreme environments.

Level B packaging offers adequate protection for short-term or moderate, less demanding conditions. It typically involves domestic wood crates, fast-pack containers, weather-resistant fiberboard or multi-wall sacks.
